Luke 1:13-16 and Psalm 97

                                                A Contrast

We see a contrast here. The contrast is this. We see the Christ talking to a people group and telling them that if the works he had done would have been done at Tyre and Sidon they would have repented in sack cloth and ashes. Then we look at Psalm 97 praising God for his power.  It is evident that in Bethsaida and Chorazin he had done some great thing, yet these towns still rejected the power of the most  High God that he demonstrated through the Son Jesus the Christ in their midst.  As we look around ourselves today we see Fathers power demonstrated in many ways.  In the knowledge he has allowed man to acquire over the years.  We see his absolute power in nature.  Today is the 100th anniversary of the launching of the Titanic.  The builders scoffed, “not even God could sink this ship.  Little did they know.  When man takes the position of the writer of the psalm and humbles himself in the sight of the Lord, man is blessed.  We are created in the Image of our Father.  We have to remember that we have he creative tendencies.  He creates out of nothing.  We have to take what we have be and create using the materials we have been given.  There is the difference.  We have to keep in mind who created whom.  Let’s make sure we are as the writer of the psalm and not the people of Tyre and Sidon.

Go in peace
