Acts 2:37-42
Peter explains salvation.
Acts 2:38 is the key verse here. Peter is asked by one of the people who just witnessed Pentecost what a person must do to be saved. The answer is simple. Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and they would be filled with the Holy Spirit. There is a belief system out there that says that the gifts of the spirit are not for today. But this small but very powerful section of scripture contradicts that belief. It states that it is for them and their children and all that believe. Father putting it on Peter’s heart to say these things made it clear that it was for all generations. One of my favorite passages is from John 17, Verses 22-26 lay it out pretty clear the relationship that Christ was praying for is one of knowing the word that he is given us. It is also one of an intimate relationship that only the Father can give. Don’t let those who have a form of Godliness but deny the power there of muddle your mind. If 1st Timothy 3:5 we are told to have nothing to do with such people. Today as you go out to hopefully enjoy your weekend remember this. We not only walk in intimate relationship with our Father, but we walk in his power through the Son by the Spirit. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit we are filled with God himself. Walk in the power that he gives us.
Go in peace
Michael
